What will your first tandem skydiving experience with Skydiving Ghana entail?
You're about to embark on your first ever skydiving experience, and have arrived at the drop zone - a term used by skydivers to refer to the skydiving center. What's next?
Upon arrival, you'll be greeted by the friendly staff at Skydiving Ghana's reception, who will assist you in completing the necessary documentation and paperwork required for your tandem skydive. Once that's done, our experienced skydiving instructors will take charge and your adventure will begin in earnest. You'll receive a brief but comprehensive five-minute briefing about the skydive, which is very easy to follow - all you need to remember are your exit position, position during freefall, and position when landing under the parachute. Your tandem instructor will take care of everything else.
Gear up for the skydive!
After you've been briefed for your skydiving adventure, it's time to gear up for the tandem skydive. Your tandem instructor will fit you with the tandem harness and prepare it for the jump. If you've opted for the skydiving video option, you'll have the opportunity to record a video introduction - just relax and follow your instructor's lead, and they'll ensure you look great in the video. If you have any special requests or want to send a message to someone, just let your skydiving instructor know so they can help you plan accordingly.
Heading to the airport
Now that you're all set for the tandem skydive, it's time to head to the airplane - there's no turning back now! You'll be skydiving out of a perfectly good airplane.
Boarding the airplane
Once you reach the plane, your tandem instructor will board first, followed by you. They'll instruct you where to sit, usually in front of them, and attach your harness to themselves and the parachute system. From that moment on, you'll be together throughout the entire experience. During the flight, enjoy the spectacular views above the Indian Ocean and feel free to chat with your instructor about skydiving and the adrenaline rush you're about to experience. This is a great opportunity to get to know your instructor, who will be the person who guided you on your first skydiving adventure. When you reach the jump altitude, it's time to get ready.
Exiting the airplane
Remember your skydive briefing and follow your instructor's instructions. They'll guide you to the airplane door and adjust your position for the jump. All you need to do is relax, lean on your instructor, and enjoy the thrill of the jump. When it's time to go, your instructor will count down - 3, 2, 1 - and off you go!
Freefalling
You're now in freefall! Remember your position, look towards the horizon, wave at the camera on your left, and don't forget to smile. You're now one of the less than 1% of the population who have experienced the exhilaration of skydiving. Your instructor will be behind you, controlling the freefall. You can wave to the camera, make hand gestures, or just enjoy the ride until you feel a change. That's when your instructor will open the parachute, and you'll enter a peaceful flight above the ocean.
Parachute deployment and flight under the canopy
While flying under the parachute, you can chat with your instructor and express your feelings to the camera. Relax, as you no longer need to hold the position for freefall. Take the opportunity to enjoy the breathtaking view of the ocean coast. Depending on your preference, you can have a gentle or more extreme canopy ride - just let your skydiving instructor know.
Landing on the beach
As your parachute slowly descends towards the sandy beach, you'll lift both legs up as instructed during your pre-jump briefing. The adrenaline rush is still coursing through your veins as you touch down, feeling a sense of accomplishment wash over you. Your instructor will carefully unhook your harness from the parachute and congratulate you on completing your first skydive. It's time to revel in the moment and raise a glass to the experience of a lifetime.
